Thread: Pompey to stay up this season?

Pompey to stay up this season?

With Pompey selling all their best assets, I wonder if they will have enough to avoid a relegation fight (again), financially they seem more secure but without talent they will have a problem, I hope they can bring in a few decent names before the window closes.

At the moment with the current squad Portsmouth have, it's hard to see them staying up. At least Pompey have made their first step with installing Paul Hart on a permanent basis but the sales of Peter Crouch and Glen Johnson will hit them hard, unless using the funds to adequately replace them and bring in others. Steve Finnan could be an interesting one, was certainly one of the most consistent players in a Liverpool shirt, but didn't have the most convincing of years in Spain. The takeover continue to drag on hasn't helped matters either, a cash injection is what Portsmouth really need.

Portsmouth will have to secure most of the players they're linked to. Lots of reports of Viduka coming to the club. But whilst he has a wealth of Premier League experience, he's had a terrible time at Newcastle so Hart will have a job on his hands getting him back to his best.

Well, not a good start for my boys.

Both performances so far have been lack lustre, I cant see how they can even win a game right now, let alone win enough to stay up.

I hope the sale completes before the transfer window closes so we can get a decent striker, though I guess there is no money for that.

Still, if we go down, and leeds go up, I will be looking forward to next season if only for those games

I think they will stay up. They still have quality players and if they win 3 or 4 games in a row they will re-gain their self-confidence.

They've done well over the last couple of games, can't see them stay up nevertheless though. They lack quality all over the park and are in financial meltdown.

I hope and somehow believe Portsmouth will stay up, though if they go into adminstration as has been mutted they'll never manage it sadly. Yeah they'll be 2 cracking games v Leeds if this happend and Pompy go down!
